India Millet Initiative aims to support farmers and enhance the supply chain by addressing supply and demand challenges. We are dedicated to the growth of the millet sector.

We innovate high-quality seed varieties for millet farmers and work with industry players to improve market linkages. We also engage with agencies to adopt new technologies, advocating for policy support to boost millet production and ensure food security.

About Us
Why International Decade of Millets

India MIllet Initiative conceptualized International Decade of Millets 2024-2034 to take the initiative and efforts taken during International Year of Millets (IyoM 2023). IDoM 2024-2034 was announced in USA at University of Nebraska Lincoln while formalizing Indo-US Millet Initiative with University of Nebraska, The Daugherty Water For Food, North American Millet Alliance and Sorghum United.

Impact

What we do

As part of the India Millet Initiative, we developed a program to encourage farmers in millet production, spreading awareness and enrolling new farmers to expand cultivable lands. We help farmers implement effective cultivation methods and improve pest control to prevent losses from attacks by pests. We are also creating seed-hubs for breeding and collaborating with technology institutes for millet processing and product development.
